Workshop on
meV-Resolved Inelastic X-Ray Scattering
On-Line, 6-9 September 2021
This workshop will focus on meV-resolution non-resonant IXS as is used to investigate atomic dynamics in various systems, including crystals, liquids and soft matter. The main goal is to help workers in the field stay current with recent activities, especially with the pandemic strongly limiting our ability travel and exchange information, and with IXS 2021 delayed until 2022. The workshop format will be four 3-hour sessions that will run in the morning in the US, mid-day in Europe, and late evening in Asia. Each session will focus primarily on work from one facility, beginning with an overview of the facility program and then moving to a series of about ~6 invited talks. There *may* also be a short set of 4-minute contributed micro-talks at the end of one or more sessions - however, this will be subject to available time and interest.
The workshop is organized by scientists at each of the main facilities involved in this type of work (SPring-8, APS, NSLS-II and ESRF) and will primarily focus on research that has been published in the last 2 to 3 years, or is recently submitted. The talks will generally be relatively short, and will target those who have some background in meV-IXS. This is partly motivated by a desire to make each session short, so as to be more readily accessible to people in different time zones, without undue burden on attendees from any one area.
The workshop will be conducted using ZOOM.
